CANIS requires that owners provide:

  • Enough food for the duration of the reservation
  • Enough necessary medication
    • Any needed pill pockets/peanut butter/etc. must be provided
  • You are also encouraged to drop off some treats if you would like!
  • Lastly, we encourage you to provide long lasting chews like Yak Chews and Bully Sticks!

We request you please do not provide any:

  • Bedding, fabrics, or stuffed items (ie. Stuffed toys, pillows, blankets, beds, clothing, etc.) unless prearranged with our reception.
  • Please do not provide bowls for your dog as we have plenty on-site. If your dog requires special bowls or bowl set-ups please communicate this to reception.
  • Lastly, please do not bring any Kongs – We have many Kongs on-site and run the risk of losing yours in the mix!

“Social” status refers to dogs who are elligible to participate in daycare.

  • A daycare assesment must be completed at CANIS to confirm ‘Social’ status.
    • Past daycare experience or prior socialization does not guarantee your pup social status.
  • Please note that dogs who are 6 months and older MUST be fixed (spayed/neutered) to participate in social groups. If your dog is not fixed, they will be considered ‘Solo’ until they have been altered regardless of their socialization

“Solo” status refers to dogs who either are inelligible for daycare OR whose parents prefer for them to go out in the company of humans rather than dogs.

We HIGHLY suggest coming in for a free assessment PRIOR to the start of your reservation.

While boarding may be booked prior to assessing your dog, however, we do require a daycare assessment prior to determining if your dog fits into ‘social’ or ‘solo’ status.

If you are starting a boarding reservation prior to your dog’s assessment, your reservation will be categorized as a ‘Solo’ boarding type until an assessment has been conducted. Upon drop off, you will be pre-charged for a ‘Solo’ boarding reservation type. If your dog is assessed as ‘Social’, the difference will be credited to your customer portal for future use. This different is non-refundable.

Daycare assessments are free of charge prior to October 1st, 2024. If needed, our staff will assess your dog on their first day of boarding free of charge to ensure your reservation is accurately categorized.

Policies for Boarding

CANIS requires that dogs be up to date on:

  • Rabies
  • Bordatella
  • DHPP/DA2PP
  • Flea & Tick Preventative

Over holiday/peak dates, reservation extensions within 24 hours of the anticipated check-out will result in a $100 convenience fee per dog.

If not overlapping with holiday/peak dates, there is no extension fee. We do, however, ask that you please be mindful as last-minute extensions require special accommodations.

Cancellations within 48 hours of the expected reservation check-in will be subject to pay 50% of the anticipated reservation’s total.

During Peak dates, CANIS requires 5 days notice for cancellations. If a reservation which overlaps with Holiday & Peak dates is cancelled within these 5 days before the start of the reservation, full payment is required for the anticipated reservation’s total. These payments are nonrefundable.

Over CANIS’ holiday & peak dates, all reservations will be subject to an additional 10% peak charge for the invoice. See dates below.

  • Dec. 20th – Jan. 3rd
  • Monday-Monday of Thanksgiving Week
  • July 1st – 8th
  • Fri-Tues of Labor day weekend
  • Fri-Tues of Memorial day weekend.

Dogs over the age of 6 months old must be spayed or neutered to participate in daycare/’Social’ groups. If your dog over 6 months of age is not fixed, they will be considered ‘Solo’.

If your dog goes into heat while staying with CANIS they must be immediately transferred to quarantine or picked up.

Invoice payment must be provided in full prior to the release of dog(s).

Senior Dogs: Dogs over the age of 12 years must have an owner-signed waiver that is valid for 3 months outlining any known health issues as well as what measures are to be taken if there is a decline in health during their stay.

Medical Issue Dogs: Dogs with chronic serious medical issues can only be boarded with the approval of upper management. This includes, but is not limited to: heart failure, kidney failure, epilepsy, and insulin-reliant diabetes.

No dog is allowed within the facility with known parasites. Flea medication and baths will be administered at the owner’s cost.  If a dog shows signs of any intestinal parasite, including giardia, the dog is to be seen by a veterinarian and tested at the owner’s cost. Immediate recommendation is for the owner to set-up an ASAP pickup for the dog but if that is not possible the dog is to be placed in quarantine while awaiting results and can only be removed from quarantine protocol with a negative result.

If a reservation’s check-out date is changed to an earlier date within 48 hours of the scheduled check-in, the client will be charged for the full cost of the original reservation.
