Policies

Facility Policies:

ALL dogs participating in Boarding, Training, or Day Camp are required to have up to date vaccinations which include:

  • Bordetella
  • Distemper-Parvo (DHPP/DA2PP)
  • Rabies
  • Flea & Tick Preventative
  • (While we do not require it, we highly recommend the K-9 Influenza and Leptospirosis vaccines.)

*If your dog is not vaccinated with the required vaccines, quarantine accomodations may be available or service may be denied.*

Dogs over the age of 6 months old must be spayed or neutered to participate in Daycare and ‘Social’ groups. If your dog over 6 months of age is not fixed, they will be considered ‘Solo’ regardless of friendliness.

If your dog goes into heat while staying with CANIS they must be immediately transferred to quarantine* or picked up.

*Additional rates apply to quarantine accomodations

Prepayment: is required at check-in. If your dog has not been assessed to determine Social/Solo status at the time of drop off, you will be charged for the Solo rate for your reservation. If upon assessment your dog is determined to be a ‘Social’ candidate, your reservation will be switched to the ‘Social’ rate and the difference will be credited to your account with CANIS for future use. This credit is non-refundable. If a dog is extended, payment for the extended stay should be made when being changed.

Extensions: Over holiday/peak dates, reservation extensions within 24 hours of the anticipated check-out will result in a $100 convenience fee per dog. If not overlapping with holiday/peak dates, there is no extension fee. We do, however, ask that you please be mindful as last-minute extensions require special accommodations.

Cancellations: Cancellations within 48 hours of a stay are subject to payment of 50% of the total reservation. During peak dates, cancellations within 5 days of a stay are subject to fees totaling 100% of the reservation.

Holiday & Peak Details: Over CANIS’ holiday & peak dates, all reservations will be subject to an additional 10% peak charge for the invoice. See dates below.

Dec. 20th – Jan. 3rd

Nov. 25th – Dec. 2nd

July 1st – 8th

Fri – Tues of Labor Day Weekend

Fri – Tues of Memorial Day Weekend

Senior Dogs: Dogs over the age of 12 years must have an owner-signed waiver that is valid for 3 months outlining any known health issues as well as what measures are to be taken if there is a decline in health during their stay.

Medical Issue Dogs: Dogs with chronic serious medical issues can only be boarded with the approval of upper management. This includes, but is not limited to: heart failure, kidney failure, epilepsy, and insulin-reliant diabetes.

Parasites: No dog is allowed within the facility with known parasites. Flea medication and baths will be administered at the owner’s cost.  If a dog shows signs of any intestinal parasite, including giardia, the dog is to be seen by a veterinarian and tested at the owner’s cost. Immediate recommendation is for the owner to set-up an ASAP pickup for the dog but if that is not possible the dog is to be placed in quarantine while awaiting results and can only be removed from quarantine protocol with a negative result.

The Owner or agent of the dog may postpone any of the private lessons, provided 48 hour notice is given. CANIS – Behavior and Training is only obligated to give two free makeup lessons due to owner or agent postponement. After second postponement, each additional postponement will count as one of the remaining lessons owed to the owner. Additional makeup lessons can be purchased at the current prevailing rate. Rain, holidays, or trainer illness will not be counted as owner or agent postponement. CANIS Behavior and training will, in these cases, provide free makeup sessions for as many times as these types of postponements occur.

Any takeover program requires a deposit at time of booking. For Board & Train, this deposit is 50% of the program. For Day Training, this deposit is the full program. Programs are not completely confirmed until the deposit is paid.

In-Kennel/Day-Training requires a 2 weeks advance notice of cancellation in order to receive a refund. If the cancellation happens in less than 2 weeks’ notice, it will be considered a credit lasting one (1) year toward the same training program or any higher cost package. The owner or agent of the dog may have the animal withdrawn from training at any time. However, once program(s) has begun, all fees are nonrefundable.

All services, with the exception of day camp, require payment at check-in. Exceptions may be made with management approval. If a dog is extended, payment for the extended stay should be made when being changed.
